COTE was founded in Spring 2008 by three graduates of the Performance Studies graduate program at Tisch School of the Arts, NYU. Co-Op Theatre East produces socially minded performance that deals with the questions of today, the situations we find ourselves immersed in as New Yorkers, Americans, and world citizens at this moment. The staff & ensemble at COTE firmly believe that theatre can do something; not only do we hold Hamlet’s mirror up to nature, but we can use theatre as a means to make a positive impact in the world. Devyn is an actress, singer and songwriter located in New York City. Probably most well-known for her stint in American Idol, season 10, Devyn is currently preparing her debut album. She has appeared on-stage at the Atlantic Theatre Company in Spring Awakening and with the Collective. Learn more about Devyn here. 

Ashley Kate Adams is a rising actress and singer in New York who has appeared with the Collective on-stage. She most recently starred in the smash-hit and sold-out NYMF musical Gay Bride of Frankenstein. Ashley is currently on tour with the national Equity company of La Cage Aux Folles.

Ashley is at the head of AKA Studio Productions.

Gay Bride of Frankenstein is a pop/rock, fairy tale musical that follows the exploits of four high school friends on one fateful Halloween night. after a strange substitute teacher reads to a biology class from Mary Shelley's, Frankenstein. Much to everyone’s chagrin, the Halloween Dance is canceled. However, the foursome is invited to the annual “Monsters Ball” and all hell breaks loose when the bride arrives. Cast-members and composer Billy Butler have performed with Collective members and their show continues to find its following in the Big Apple. Learn more about it here. 

Paul Scott Goodman is the composer of BRIGHT LIGHTS, BIG CITY and ROOMS: a rock romance. Also a dynamic perform, he has appeared on-stage alongside Collective members and recently premiered his one man show in Washington, D.C. in the spring of 2010.

Currently starring as Donna in Broadway’s Mamma Mia, Lisa’s previous Broadway appearances include Elphaba in Wicked, Amneris in Aida, Cleo in Twyla Tharp’s The Times They Are A-Changin’ and Marion Halcombe in The Woman in White, when she stepped in for British star Maria Friedman.  For five years, Lisa toured internationally with The Mamas and The Papas with original members John Phillips and Denny Doherty.  Lisa graduated with honors from the American Academy of Dramatic Arts, and was a member of the prestigious AADA Repertory Company.
